ACCESSIBILITY GUIDE

If you have any queries please speak to Reception where we are here to assist. We welcome any comments from guests that can help us to improve the service offered. Please make these known to a Supervisor at Reception. The Resort is of flat terrain therefore generally accessible for guests in wheelchairs. We have a limited number of wheelchairs available for hire on either a daily or weekly basis. Please book in advance to avoid disappointment. Some toilet facilities are accessible through use of guest’s personal radar key or a key can be hired from your Warden.

Accessible Accommodation

We have a choice of accessible accommodation. We have our "Platinum Wheelchair Friendly" Abi Derwent holiday homes, situated close to our facilities at Brean Leisure Park, Brean Play and Brean Splash. Or our "Popular Wheelchair Friendly" accommodation located in a quiet area on Holiday Resort Unity.

Our caravans are suited for a range of general disabilities and are provided direct from the manufacture. They are not classified to meet specific grades of disabilities so please ensure you have checked the suitability of the accommodation for your disability. Note we advise that disabled persons are accompanied by an abled bodied person to assist them throughout the accommodation.

These six berth holiday homes have two twin-bedded rooms and in the main bedroom these can be joined together to create a super king bed. There is a double pull out in the lounge. There is also a portable manual handle aid in the unit. Please note hoists are not provided in these units only handle aids - one per unit. These have a restriction of up to a max weight of 125kg Please see images in the below accommodation ranges.

Accessed via a ramp, there is parking immediately outside, the ramp and doorways are suitable for a standard wheelchair width. Whilst the majority of mobility scooters can access the accommodation this may be a little more difficult due to the ramp gradient and door lip to access the caravan. Built specifically to allow everyone to enjoy, they include a whole host of thoughtfully designed features such a lower kitchen work surfaces and accessible wet room. Please note the microwave is not accessible to those in a wheelchair due to its height.


In March 2018, 40 of our team members from various departments across the resort undertook training to become “Dementia Friends”. We are therefore pleased to say we are recognised as being “Dementia Aware”. If you would like to stay with us and will be travelling with someone who has dementia at whatever stage, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will happily answer any questions.

All our employees receive basic training to help ensure all guests have a great stay with us. Please pass any comments onto Reception that will allow us to improve our service further.

Access in and out of Holiday Resort Unity

Access into Holiday Resort Unity is controlled barriers through vehicle recognition. Please ensure your vehicle details are provided at the time of booking.

Touring & Camping Fields

Touring field pitches are all located on flat ground across three fields, Yellow, Green & Brown. Guests bringing their own motorhome/ tent/ tourer can find disabled toilet and shower facilities at yellow field within the ladies and gents and a unisex disabled room on yellow field, green field and brown field. All disabled facilities are accessed via the use of a radar key. If you do not have radar key one can be rented from the warden. Pitches on the field are allocated by the Warden on arrival to the Resort on a first come first serve basis. Please request at the time of booking if you require to be near the toilet block. Please note that there are only a limited number of pitches that are close to the toilet facilities.

Hiring Accommodation

Please ask when booking about our disabled accommodation suitable for guests with a range of disabilities. These have ramped access with wider doors to accommodate a standard wheelchair and lower kitchen counters and wet room. Please check the specifications to check they are suited to your needs before booking. Please note hoists are not provided, only 1 x portable handle aid (max weight 125kg).
Note: Guests for Golden Sands caravans are advised that there is a steep slope through the park and steep path to access the beach.

Unity Bowl & Tenpin Bowling

Fully accessible for guests in wheelchairs.

Holiday Resort Unity Reception

Is located on ground level. An Induction loop is provided in Reception for guests with hearing difficulties.

Brean Splash Waterpark & Gym

A full accessibility guide is available on the Brean Splash Website. We also have a sensory guide to help guests to plan their visit. A disabled changing/ shower room is available. A lifting hoist is available for access into the 25m indoor pool. Lifeguard assistance is required to use the hoist so please notify Splash Reception on arrival.
Please note that there is a weight limit for use.
All waterslides are accessed via steps and health and safety restrictions apply. Guests with heart and back problems are advised not to use the slides. Riders must be able to sit/ lie in the correct riding positions. Some slides have a height restriction of 1.2m.
The gym is located on the 1st floor and lift access is available via Brean Play.

Brean Play Indoor Soft Play Area

A full accessibility guide is available on the Brean Splash Website. We also have a sensory guide to help guests to plan their visit. This attraction is suitable for 0-11 year olds under 148cm. A lift is provided to access the 1st floor mezzanine seating area and party rooms.

Entertainment Venue

All venues are on ground level and are fully accessible for guests in standard wheelchairs.  During busy periods electric mobility scooters are generally not permitted in the venues following a risk assessment due to their size. A standard manual wheelchair is normally avaliable for use for guests to transfer to at the venue entrance if required. If a standard wheelchair is not possible then please discuss this with a Venue Manager.

Disabled toilets are provided within the venues. An induction loop is provided in the Tavern for guests with hearing difficulties. Our door team are on hand to assist with finding a suitable table to accommodate a wheelchair. Please note when the facilities are operating at full capacity we may be unable to find room to accommodate any further guests. All venues operate on a first come first serve basis. Service dogs are welcome.

Brean Theme Park

Is not operated by Holiday Resort Unity.For health and safety reasons some rides have height, weight and health restrictions.Guests must be able to support themselves and be able to maintain the correct riding position at all times.Ride access varies from either steps or ramps according to the ride design.Brean Theme Park team members are unable to physically assist guests getting into and out of the rides. We therefore advise that guests are accompanied by a helper/ carer.Ride operator instructions must be adhered to and understood. The park management reserve the right to refuse entry onto a ride for safety reasons. Service dogs are not permitted on any of the rides. Please contact the theme park direct for any specific queries.

Sea Salt Fish and Chips & Central Park Pizza

Fully accessible on one level.

Car Parking

Car parking is possible next to either your caravan or touring pitch. At Brean Leisure Park disabled parking bays are available at the Leisure Park. For guests staying at Holiday Resort Unity please take your disability badge to Unity Reception to obtain a complimentary parking pass to use during your stay. All other guests are encouraged to walk to the Leisure Park due to a car parking charge.

Bus/Train Service

This service operates in the evening only at specified times. Please note access is via three steps and there is no wheelchair lift present. Service dogs are welcome.

Costcutter Supermarket

Fully accessible on one level.

Piglet Club

All children are welcome to take part, parents are required to remain during the sessions.

Outdoor Play Area

The basketball arena is accessible for guests in wheelchairs.

Market Field at Brean Leisure Park

Is on one level and fully accessible.

Golf Course

Is flat course with slopped tee access. Golf buggy hire available enquire at pro- shop at Brean Country Club. Disabled shower and changing facilities available.

Brean Country Club

Access to the Country Club by vehicle is via dedicated entrance. Free disabled car parking is provided. Access by foot is via Brean Leisure Park car park. Note the ground surface for access is variable with partial grass, stone, gravel and tarmac. A lift provides access to the Kingfisher Suite on the 1st floor.

Eateries

All restaurants and takeaways are accessible.

Wild Walk – Environment Sessions

This takes part on mixed ground conditions and therefore will not be suitable for all types of wheelchairs and those with walking difficulties. Please speak to Reception who can advise further.

Dementia & Autism Aware

We have recently trained 40 of our team members in autism and dementia awareness and a result created new sensory guides for Brean Play & Brean Splash Waterpark.
